Dear Friends,
Another Christmas, another year...
I hope your 2005 was a good one! There was not much to report for this past year so I will keep this one shorter than usual :)
David is now a senior at Okemos High and applied for a few colleges already. Looks like he will attend MSU since that is the most economical one to attend (50% off tuition). Melissa started high school in Sept. Both of them are doing well in school.
Guijie is trying to find a job outside the house but is not successful yet.
Zhiyong travels around quite a bit. Reno (NV), Mexico, Bryce Canyon and Zion Mountain National Parks (UT), St. Louise (MO), Cleaveland (OH), Cornell University (NY) and Fort Lauderdale (FL), to name a few. Everywhere he goes, he brings his camera and takes pictures of bees and flowers, or other magnificant scenes (see links above). The most breathtaking shots would be of Dale Chihuly's glass work at the Fairchild Tropical Garden (main image above). In 2005 he has shot about 40 gigs of photo now... It would take a long long time to process these photos and put them on the website....He started another website (!), called beetography (www.beetography.com), the name (as well as the contents) of which he is quite proud of... MSU even ran an article about his passion of shooting bees, a radio station also interviewed him (now you can hear his voice!). The TV show of a local station is not out yet. He has published a few bee pictures as cover photos for various bee journals.
Zhiyong's brother and father return to China in May due to health reasons but his mother stays here. Right around they returned to China, my younger brother (Zhigang) had a major surgery due to abscess in his brain, due to delay in treating his ear infection. Thankfully, the surgery (which cost about 50,000 yuan) went well and he has recovered nicely. Now he takes care of both Zhiyi and our father in Shaoshan, Hunan. We thank the Chinese Alliance Church in Detroit in helping paying my brother's surgery in China and thank many that prayed for him.
We are pretty happy here but Zhiyong does wonder what life would be like at warmer places...this thought came to him after he returned to 19 degree F weather 2 days ago from Florida, where it was 87 during the day and 77 in the morning and he could take a dip in the ocean at 7 am and watch sunrise every morning on the beach...shooting bee pics and butterflies...instead of shoveling snow out of the driveway each morning...
May God bless you all in 2006!
Sincerely,
Zhiyong (Zach), Guijie, David and Melissa.
