Dear friends,

Greetings from Champaign-Urbana (some called it Shampoo-Banana, for some unknown reasons), where the corns grow high and soybeans are everywhere. We have seen many changes in 1997. Melissa turned 6 in May and is in first grade. She is reading well (of course, in Engl ish; in Chinese she can get by). David just turned 10 in December and on his birthday, he declared he no longer wants t o be hugged by his Dad, and should be greeted by handshaking instead. Zhiyong's younger brother, Zhiyi , also made his way to America with a B-2 visa. Guijie has dug a garden in our backyard and it has produced many varieties of vegetables this last summer. She is planning going back to school, taking computer classes. Zhiyong, as usual, is beezy as b ees in summer, but he did find time to do some fishing. (Even Melissa caught a good sized freshwater drumfish). Besides working with bees , he spends his time on computers and web pages. He was offered a bee job at the Michigan State University, but there was some changes and now he will need to re-apply for the same job, this time a tenure-tracked position. Please pray for him that he will get the job. If so, our family will move to M ichigan in August. We have been very happy here in Illinois, but in March it will be 8 years! It is time for some change. We hope t he Lord has blessed your family well, just as He did ours. Please keep in touch . Our phone number and address remain the same, which is:
